Jen Barnes has lived with, and loved dogs all her life. A desire to work with these special animals led Jen to becoming a Canine Myofunctional (Massage) Therapist, graduating from the National College of Traditional Medicine in Victoria. It was through her massage work that Jen really began to think about and examine what makes our dogs tick in a psychological sense, and how we - the owners - hold the key to influencing everything in our dogs world - including the way they behave.
With this in mind, and along with searching for better ways to make her own rescue dog happy and content, Jen became interested in the work of Jan Fennell - the world renowned "Dog Listener" - after seeing Jan's series on ABC television. Jen went on to read Jan's books and began to understand that rather than expecting our dogs to understand and relate to us, we needed to relate to them.
By implementing Jan Fennell's teachings at home, Jen began to see amazing, positive changes in her relationship with her own dog Gemma - who had come to her from the RSPCA after having a rough start in life. Wanting to know more, Jen enrolled to complete the Foundation Course in Canine Communication when Jan Fennell conducted training in Australia. It was an honour for Jen to be invited by Jan Fennell to go onto further advanced training.
Fully certified in Foundation and Advanced Canine Communication, Jen's career as Dog Listener and Canine Behaviour Consultant is hugely rewarding. It gives her great joy to teach dog owners how to form happy and rewarding relationships with their companions and show them the way to overcome behavioural problems with their dogs.
And most importantly, to teach people to communicate with their dogs naturally in the way they instinctively understand - through their own canine language.
